[syslinux] "so old bootloader ..." with syslinux-3.05 on x86_64

Yes, the stock vmlinuz and initrd.img from FC3 x86-64. I even tried extracting the one from their boot.iso, the FC3 isolinux/ subdirectory ... no joy.
>From my tftp server logs, I can see the initrd.img file being pulled.
Any hints? Tips on things to look out for?
