Regarding the monetary value of the Boot-Land forums:

I've managed to tune out advertising so much in life that I couldn't
even tell you if there are advertisements on the Boot-Land web site
without looking.

That's not to say that the collection of information might not have some
monetary value today or some day in the future for its owner. Very
interesting thought. Similarly, I can make a product which uses
Syslinux and sell it, as long as I provide the source code upon request.
I've been invited to be a moderator of the Syslinux Boot-Land forum, but
I have zero units of interest in making money from helping people there,
here, and as a Google Summer of Code participant. From products, maybe
someday...

To me, what's most valuable is having choices. Since there's little
chance of inhibiting this mailing list or the Syslinux area of the
Boot-Land forums, there're multiple choices available.

Regarding having good Syslinux information in multiple places:

I will do my best to mail this list if anything of great relevance comes
along in the Boot-Land forums. I somewhat suspect that if a
support/feature request needed to "escalate" from the unofficial but
popular and available Boot-Land forums to this official forum, then
those comfortable with the single source of information could still
enjoy it without worrying about what they might be missing out on
elsewhere.

I take a risk by suggesting "a bit too much drama" in this thread. The
risk is that the suggestion could fuel more of the thread with
information which seems to be about "mailing lists versus web forums"
instead of for discussion of Syslinux and tftp-hpa. Having said that,
"missing out" on information published at an alternative sanctioned
forum (due to that forum's perceived deficiencies or the preferences of
the seeker) is easily understood as a legitimate concern.
