Should you wish to use syslinux on an USB Flash Drive I'd recommend 
using the RUFUS program as an all-in-one tool: http://rufus.akeo.ie/

Your other option is to search the internet for example syntax or to 
download some ISO files and see how they use syslinux/isolinux 
(including the contents of the necessary configuration files).
