This means it's not a MEMDISK problem at all (if you don't get the
"ready" message or the equivalent for your bootloader MEMDISK doesn't
get invoked.) Since you didn't leave any information about what
bootloader you used to invoke MEMDISK, I can't help you.

My PXE Server is from kano.org.ok and the bootloader is pxelinux.

If on the server machine I set the default option to boot a floppy and I
then reboot the client.

My "messages" file appears on the client screen and the client waits for
input. If I just leave it timeout and boot the default option all works fine
but if I enter an option to boot a floppy image, then more often that not
the client freezes while loading the floppy image (memdisk has already been
loaded before the image).
