Hello, I am trying to get a 2.6.0-test2 kernel to boot from a Syslinux
floppy. I am currently running a 2.4.0 booting from a floppy just fine.
As all other parametres except the kernel version remain the same I
formatted a nex floppy (Kformat), ran syslinux /dev/fd0, copied
vmlinuz-2.6.0-test2 to the floppy and renamed it vmlinuz, Copied the
linboot.img and syslinux.cfg from my 2.4.0 floppy to the 2.6.0-test2
floppy and tried to reboot.
The procedure hangs at the following message:
Decompressing the kernel.........OK booting the kernel.
Some details. Originally a Knoppix HD-install = 2.4.0-xfs + initrd +
cramfs. Changed to a Debian 2.4.0.(current kernel). New 2.6.0-test2
promised improved USB modem support.
Installation is on hdc2 i.e. 2nd partition of 2nd IDE HD.
2.6.0-test2 HAS been compiled as ext2 fs + initrd. I belive cramfs is
now automatically built-in.
Here is the .cfg file:
default knoppix
prompt 1
timeout 50
label knoppix
kernel vmlinuz
append root=/dev/hdc2 ro vga=791 apm=power-off hda=scsi hdb=scsi
hdc=scsi hdd=scsi hde=scsi hdf=scsi hdg=scsi hdh=scsi nomce
All helpful comments and suggestions welcome.
