[syslinux] How to get the /proc/parport????

perhaps /proc/parport is specific to kernel 2.6 family? Or not compiled in your stock kernel?
Your Redhat is ancient by now, version 9 is out, and Fedora Core also (public testing experimental releases by Redhat).
