You dont need to do anything special.  It should work on any flavour of DOS.

I use DosEmu and the DOS Box inside windows, to debug.

May be this is specific to the flavour of DOS?

The word "feature" is not present in either of the sample menu's
(strings *.com | grep -i "feature" returns nothing). My guess is that
this message is being displayed by the OS in which you are running it.
