Well when it fails to find bash the machine totally locks up so
Shift-PgUp isn't much use, However I have managed to have a good look
at
every line that the Kernel pumps out and none of them seem to have any
information about what is the kernels boot arguments.

Is it even possible that this behaviour is down to the kernel not
accepting the init= argument due to the way I have built it? It seems
strange that it would take the rest of the aruguments but not that one.

 Anything else i can do?

 Manuel
