Thanks for the reference I shall go away and get it working.  But I'm 
thinking that SYSLINUX has far more to offer than FakeCD (which is also 
9 years old with no source code).

memdisk: has a implemention of soft interrrupt interface needed (same 
one as FakeCD ?)
pxelinux: has TFTP, UDP and ethernet card code
tftp-hpa: hack on this to implement a hybrid TFTP service for random access
