[syslinux] "sector read error" with 3.20-pre8 syslinux.com

I tried myself pre7, pre8, pre9 and pre10. pre7 dos/syslinux.com
installs fine.  pre8, pre9 and pre10, they all fail to install with the
same error "sector read error"
