No, that would make things more complex.  As much as I'd *like* the 
comboot API to be stable, I often find that I have to modify it to 
support new modules.  For example, syslinux 3.30 has two new API calls 
to support the graphics module.  It's also very easy to release the 
whole thing as a package.
