With the CLI TFTP client want did you fetch

 /debian-installer/ia64/elilo.efi
 debian-installer/ia64/elilo.efi
or
 elilo.efi
?

The 'M-^?' in
| [udp sum ok]  50 RRQ "/debian-installer/ia64/elilo.efiM-^?" octet tsize 0
looks indeed odd.

The "hexdump"
| 0x0030:  6961 3634 2f65 6c69 6c6f 2e65 6669 ff00  ia64/elilo.efi..
revails a 0xff. Is the 0xff also there on the CLI session?
