[syslinux] which should I use: TIMEOUT, ONTIMEOUT, or ONERROR ?

Upgrade your pxelinux.  Newer versions of pxelinux consider it a fatal 
error to not fetch its configuration file, and triggers the "reboot 
after five minutes" (which can be adjusted via DHCP option 211.)
