[syslinux] reloading extlinux.conf freezes the system

Okay, tracked this problem down to the way the ADV was handled on CBIOS. 
  It was a good thing this surfaced the way it did, since this is the 
kind of bug that in other circumstances could have caused filesystem 
corruption (the ADV being a writable object.)
