Happy to report iscsi also works!
For those who want to have a go at it:
1) install and configure pxelinux 3.70
1) install, prepare, image and export your OS (see:
http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/sanboot) for excellent howto's
2) instead of adding the 'opton root-path="<mytarget>"' to your dhcp server
config add this to your pxelinux config file:
LABEL sanboot
MENU LABEL Boot image from SAN
kernel sanboot.c32
append <aoe|iscsi>:<mytarget>
