Actually, even better (new in 3.70):

	cd syslinux-3.70-preXX
	mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
	make extbootinstall INSTALLROOT=/mnt EXTLINUXDIR=/boot/extlinux
	./extlinux/extlinux -i /mnt/boot/extlinux
	umount /mnt

	-hpa
