Next trial, with the original "isolinux.bin" from the 4.00-pr63 packet:

Same behaviour, with (of course) another first line:

 ISOLINUX 4.00 4.00-pre63 ETCD Copyright ...

Thinkpad T22: 3 lines, with "EDD"
Thinkpad T23: 2 lines, without "EDD"

Thinkpad T40: no problems, neither with the original "isolinux.bin" nor  
with my selfmade one.
