Why did you rebuild it?  It was perfectly well built.  Or do you mean
you rebuilt your ISO to contain isolinux.bin from that tarball?  If you
have QEMU installed, you can test your ISO with

qemu -cdrom debug.iso -serial stdio

I attached a bzipped ISO which you can test with the above command and
also burn to a disk for real testing.  It does not boot anything, only
prints "hello world".

That shouldn't matter, the latter is the devfs name for the exact same
device.  There's no point booting the debug image until you can
successfully communicate through the serial link.
