Hello,

my name is Dario, I am trying to solve a strange problem with tftp-server,
maybe someone can help me.

I have a server with Scientific Linux 6 (a free Red Hat derivative).
Installed is tftp-server-0.49-5.1.el6.x86_64.

It worked perfectly up and including the kernel-2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64.

Then upgrading to kernel-2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 (same behaviour with
kernel.2.6.32-220.4.1.el6.x86_64) the tftpd service stopped working.

So I had to downgrade the kernel-2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64 to get the service
running (without changing anything but the kernel).

For understanding what could be the problem I made some tests.
I cloned the server (installed kernel-2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64) and running
tftpd with:

        /usr/sbin/in.tftpd -L -s /tftpboot --verbosity 10

then from a client run "put icgeb-gw-confg" after a while I get
        "Transfer timed out."

On the server in /var/log/messages I read:

Jan 27 11:28:29 helixcore in.tftpd[6500]: WRQ from 172.16.210.0 filename
icgeb-gw-confg
Jan 27 11:28:34 helixcore in.tftpd[6501]: WRQ from 172.16.210.0 filename
icgeb-gw-confg
Jan 27 11:28:39 helixcore in.tftpd[6502]: WRQ from 172.16.210.0 filename
icgeb-gw-confg
Jan 27 11:28:44 helixcore in.tftpd[6504]: WRQ from 172.16.210.0 filename
icgeb-gw-confg

As result the file on the server has 0 bytes (while the original has
15000).

Getting files from tftpd works normally.

I also tried recompiling the version of tftp-hpa-5.2, but I got no better
results (with latest kernel).

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Dario
