>From the directory syslinux-4.10-pre22, I modified the file
as shown in the patch. and performed a "make clean && make" in the top level directory 'syslinux-4.10-pre22'. Would that suffice?

I tested the files from this build; same symptom...stuck at loading the file. (from mac-address -> default)
