Hello, after spending some time searching the mailing list and chatting via irc with some nice people i have to come to the list to ask for help.
First thanks again to some IRC guys: genec for taking some time and to Ady2..
First some background. I need to boot a 250mb initrd to some(later all) of our thinclients , at the moment i´m using tftp but as we all know performance is bad.
I have 3 different hardware systems.
Model 1: msi itx board with realtek card with serial port
Model 2: shuttle barebone with intel atom and realtek card, just usb ports
Model 3: shuttle barebone with intel atom and jmicron card, just usb ports
I tried pxelinux 6.01 and also 6.02. No luck on Model 2 and 3. Model 1 is booting with 6.02 and 6.01 via lpxelinux.0 without a problem.
I used the stock binarys from the tar.bz , no make was issued.
I use this dhcpd.conf entry
host tc10143 {
hardware ethernet 80:ee:73:5d:43:1c;
fixed-address 172.31.126.125;
option host-name "tc10143";
filename "/thinclients51dev2/lpxelinux.0";
}
nothing more.
The client sends dhcp requests, get the options back and starts downloading the lpxelinux.0 via tftp. If the download is completed, it requests ldlinux.c32. it ack´s the options tsize and bsize.. and that´s it.
Nothing more happens. I connected the client to a hub and did a wireshark trace with my laptop to be sure what happens. So i think the client just don´t start the second tftp get request for the ldlinux.c32 file.
After some time i get an : ldlinux.c32 failed to load.
Logfile from tftp server:
Oct 23 17:19:14 lin dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 172.31.126.125 (172.31.4.25) from 80:ee:73:5d:43:1c via 172.31.126.240
Oct 23 17:19:14 lin dhcpd: DHCPACK on 172.31.126.125 to 80:ee:73:5d:43:1c via 172.31.126.240
Oct 23 15:19:14 lin in.tftpd[21957]: RRQ from 172.31.126.125 filename /thinclients51dev2/lpxelinux.0
Oct 23 15:19:15 lin in.tftpd[21958]: RRQ from 172.31.126.125 filename /thinclients51dev2/ldlinux.c32
If someone want´s the wireshark capture i can upload it..
As i don´t have a serial console on Model2 and 3, is there a way to try to debug those things. Perhaps a way to display some UNDI Flags to the screen or some more Debug Infos also tot he screen ? Would a usb2Serial Converter help as a debug port?
Any hints are welcome .
Bye
and thanks
roman
