Or just leave it as it is (*eventually* investing development time on 
other Syslinux issues and incorporating the already-sent patches), and 
instead let users use pxechn.c32 as Gene suggested:

  LABEL nbp_text
    MENU LABEL NBP in initial Text mode
    COM32 pxechn.c32
    APPEND newnbp.0

which should be enough for such purpose, right?
