Yes, clearly.

My comments are related to some of the reasons you might fail to build 
gnu-efi (in the way Syslinux needs it).

If you solve the gnu-efi issues, the patch would be less needed. The 
patch might help indicate a certain problem (in relation to gnu-efi), 
but the source of the problem is generated elsewhere.
