Interesting hypothesis.

This system has 4 onboard ports (labelled NET0..NET3), and two
additional on a PCIe card.  It's booting from the NET0 onboard
port.

My test systems are offline for a couple of days while some other
switches are installed.  Let me know if you want me to gather any
more data once I have them back.
