Ok, I found the problem and as I suspected it was I who had erred. I managed to find a small bug in my own build scripts which resulted in using different versions of syslinux for different things while installing my distro. After fixing that everything works fine. Sorry for bothering you with my nonsense yet again. Thanks for a great tool!
