I followed this and I could boot syslinux.efi through a EFI shell on
several real EFI machines. I got no boot picture either (I was using our
config which uses gfxboot menu), but I got a boot: prompt which I could
use to boot various entries without problems. Successfully tested were
HP Pro 3400MT, Compaq CQ2903EG and a Lenovo Notebook which I forgot to
write down the exact model before giving it back...
It did *not* however work with a MacBook Pro 15" 11th Generation with
Retina Display. UEFI Shell (from EDK 1.06) boots, but when I try to
start syslinux.efi, the machine just gets stuck after pressing enter and
does not respond to anything but pressing the power button. Maybe
someone likes to look into this, I'd be glad to help. Grub-EFI boots
just fine on this machine.
Bye,
Andreas
