I have my quote of patience :) ; I can wait.

Since I don't know the technical details about all this matter, I don't
really know which items / features / characteristics can be postpone
and which ones are "either done correctly from the starting point, or
else can never be corrected".

As simple user of the web interface, I can only see that the "tags"
that were there a couple of days ago in repo.or.cz/syslinux.git are no
longer shown (nor their links working).

For example, the "yellow" /refs/tags/ "syslinux-6.03" is not shown in
the web interface, whereas the "green" /refs/heads/ "master" is seen.

Since the "tag" hyperlinks are not currently shown (they were there a
couple of days ago), and the "refs" page is currently showing
"heads/<branch_name>" but not even one of the "tags/<tag_name>, then I
am guessing that the "refs/tags" data needs some additional (manual?)
treatment.

I am only reporting just in case this cannot be corrected later; if it
can, I can wait (hopefully not years :)).

Regarding the use of the web interface, it helps non-developers. I have
used it when (beta-)testing (so to help to narrow down the source of
some problem). I have also used it when helping others.

For this type of situations, during the years I have found that I am
more comfortable or do things faster when using the web interface style
of gitweb-caching rather than the one of cgit. This is just my own
personal perception as simple user; other users might have a different
experience and I cannot say anything about the technical background
features / functions / load / whatever behind it.

I understand the importance of having a new official git repository
available for The Syslinux Project, and I also understand that the web
interface has a lower priority to developers. I hope the features /
characteristics I was already accustomed to can be restored at some
point, and hopefully without "breaking" other/older things (we already
have had such experience).

Thank you and Best Regards,
Ady.
